As a registered nurse with decades of experience, Sheila brings a deep knowledge of healthcare to her work as a freelance health writer and journalist.

Her background includes different areas of expertise, such as surgery, urgent care, and epidemiology, in a variety of settings, including large university hospitals, small community hospitals, multi-site ambulatory clinics, and managed care plans.

She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and was awarded the Luc R. Pelletier Healthcare Quality Award in 2018 by the National Association for Healthcare Quality for her work in improving diabetic retinopathy screening rates.
